• Stronger Tones

Vocal modes are stronger, letting the tone of a vocal reach new extremes. The new vocal mode controls are also more detailed, allowing users to apply the pronunciation or pitch of a vocal mode on its own alongside timbre.

  • Vocal Nuance

Dynamics of vocals are enhanced - creating a more realistic and expressive performance. Alongside this improvement, more control is given to the user to adjust timbre and pitch generation to create the perfect base to build from.

  • Optimization

Synthesizer V Studio 2 has been heavily optimized, rendering up to 300% faster than its predecessor. The speed boost is achieved without needing upgraded or dedicated hardware - allowing for even more seamless offline usage.

  • Improved Control

The new pitch expression pad and timing retakes put even more control in the hands of users - giving you more detailed control over aspects of the voice previously difficult to adjust.

  • Pronunciation Control

The new phoneme timing and strength panel, as well as the new mouth opening parameter, give users more precise control over pronunciation, allowing users to push vocals to their ideal performance.

  • Keep a copy of your old project

We highly recommend keeping a copy of your old Synthesizer V Studio project file (.SVP) in case you want to go back to the first version for any reason, like creating additional different vocal layers, referencing your old changes, or even just for comparison’s sake.

  • Reduce the values of vocal modes and parameters

Vocal modes are stronger, letting the tone of a vocal reach new extremes - but this means that you'll need to adjust the proportions of vocal modes and parameters when importing old projects.

    • Vocal Modes generally need to be reduced or the combinations changed to mimic the original sound.
    • Parameter changes should be brought closer to their default values. In particular, Tension and Breathiness have much stronger effects, and so adjustments should be reduced.
  • Use retakes to make adjustments before making manual changes

Retakes are more powerful in this version, and we highly recommend relying on them for all kinds of changes. You can find the retakes controls on the note panel.

    • Pitch Retakes have more impact and are more influenced by context
    • Timing Retakes allow for adjustments to the timing of phonemes, for more humanization or to adjust pronunciation
    • Timbre Retakes adjust both tone and pronunciation, and are much stronger in this version. We suggest users try these out often to craft their ideal vocal line.
  • Adjusting to pitch differences from your old project

Like switching over to any new version of a context-dependent software, expect to make a few changes to pitch edits when adjusting your project to the new version.

    • If you were a particular fan of a voice database’s automatic pitch curves in the old version, you can achieve the closest equivalent to the original version by using the “Refined” corner of the expression grid.
    • If you preferred making changes over a flatter or more manual pitch, select the notes and use the "Rigid" (for SV2 voices) or "Stable" (for SV1 voices) corner of the expression grid.
  • Control pronunciation even more directly

In Synthesizer V Studio 2, you have even stronger control over pronunciation. So - you’ll be able to change the exact way a vocalist is singing any vowel or consonant.

    • Timing Retakes - for overall timing changes, start with timing retakes for the most efficient workflow
    • Phoneme Timing Panel - for precise control over timing, attack, and strength of phonemes, use the controls here
    • Mouth Opening Parameter - For more precise control over the shaping of a vowel, or unique effects on the pronunciation of consonants, use the Mouth Opening Parameter curve.
