It’s our fifth anniversary! As we continue moving forward into the future, we’ll take you behind the scenes for a big “thank you” from Eclipsed Sounds! With some messages from the team, and a special surprise for character fans, there’s something for everyone in this celebration of 5 years!

For our anniversary artwork this year, I was inspired to bring things back to where they started: the crowdfund for our first vocal, SOLARIA! During the crowdfund, one of our rewards was a sticker pack illustrated by the team. At that time, we had almost no resources other than what a few of us managed to scrape together from our paychecks, and so we couldn’t afford to hire more artists. So, we decided to lean on the sweat equity side and each created our own illustrations to add to the rewards. 

Now that it is our fifth anniversary, I asked my teammates to imagine what their sticker illustrations might have looked like for all of the vocals since then, and also created my own! None of us are professional artists by any means, but I hope you will enjoy this piece packed with gratitude from the team and celebrating our indie roots.

A Half-Decade of Eclipsed Sounds!

Five years ago today, SOLARIA’s crowdfunding campaign was launched, and Eclipsed Sounds began in earnest. Truthfully - I can’t believe it’s already been 5 years! I can still remember holding my breath posting the teasers for SOLARIA’s crowdfund like it was yesterday. In the past half decade, thousands of incredible songs have been made, which means that thousands of users have been able to bring new creative projects to light using our voices. That kind of enthusiastic embrace and overwhelming support of our work is something that I never would have anticipated when this whole thing began.

So, as always, what I want to say is, on behalf of all of us - thank you! I worry that I’ve become a broken record after all this time, but I can’t help being that way. I’m just so deeply grateful for the support of our community and users, as it’s made everything we do possible! 

It hasn’t always been easy, we’re a small business with very high costs in development, and so every single voice can be a gamble, especially with our focus on bringing new types of singers into the vocal synthesis sphere. I hope we can keep fulfilling the wishes of our users, while also broadening the horizons with new singers that you maybe never even knew you needed to work with. Thank you again!

I truly cannot believe how fast time has flown by during my time in Eclipsed Sounds and honestly, it makes sense. I became part of the team as ASTERIAN was being developed, but that feels like a short while ago. Working in this field is truly a dream come true for me and I am thankful every single day that I'm here, but the community is really what makes this all so special. Without vocal synth users and fans, none of this would have been possible. From SOLARIA's crowdfund to REMMANT's release, I can only sincerely thank each and every one of you for believing in and supporting us. It truly matters so much to me that we keep bringing new and fresh voices to this space, because it is a space that deserves it. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for 5 years; I look forward to many more.

I started Eclipsed Sounds at before I was 21 with hopes of creating just one voice to fill an empty spot. I never would've imagined we'd come far enough to make this many voices, have this many fans and be able to support ourselves full-time on what was once just a dream. I really could go on and on about it, but I think it'd take up the whole blog! It's been really amazing to have so much support - from fans of our vocals to my coworkers to the people we've collaborated with. I hope SOLARIA and Eclipsed Sounds can continue shining through everyone's brightest and darkest times. Each and every person's songs bring a little more joy to the world and we do our best to listen to as many as we can. From here, I'll leave it a little more short and simple: thank you all do much for supporting us for 5 years, and please continue for 5, 10, 15 more!

At this point, I think my teammates said it the best, and I suppose I said it already in the intro - but I’ll gladly say so again, we are so, so grateful for your support! Thank you to everyone who has given us this chance. I also want to take a moment to express my own gratitude for all of the collaborators who have helped us along the way. Your creativity and absolutely inspired artistic genius brings our vocals to life in ways that I, as a developer, could never even have imagined. Thank you for your trust in us! I hope that all of our users know that Eclipsed Sounds at its core is a true community effort. We would not be where we are today if not for the overwhelming support of everyone who has embraced our vocals! To all of you - whether I’ve met you in person at a trade show, packed your physical edition, just answered your support emails, or if we’ve never met at all, thank you! Every song, cover, artwork, and even every post about our singers is the fuel that keeps us going, your support is what is truly at the core of Eclipsed Sounds. While I said before that it hasn’t always been easy, the truth is that it is, actually, never easy. Development is unpredictable, costs are very high, and our small size means that sometimes there are endless late nights for a developer like me, but every second is worth it. Thank you for five years, I hope we can continue to earn each year ahead.

What’s Next For Eclipsed Sounds?

We are finally making significant progress in development on a few different vocals, including multiple highly requested types of voices. If the next announcement isn’t the one you’re looking for, please understand we have more than a handful in the development pipeline! Work on these types of projects often takes a long time to finish, and with our ongoing series, our schedule is primarily aligned to the opportunities that come up for us as they appear, rather than specific casting and timing decisions.

That being said, I do want to mention that we have had trouble casting Spanish-language feminine singers. While this is an area we want to continue expanding our development into, we have faced some difficulty in following this path and achieving the voice style and level of skill that our users are hopeful for. We will continue searching for an ideal connection in the future - and if you are that connection, please reach out to us!

On top of this - I want to apologize that we have not yet completed judging for the SAROS song contest. At this time, I’m just waiting for one of my teammates to finish his portion of the judging so that we can move into final deliberation. I want to thank everyone for their patience during this continued and unexpectedly long wait, but we will continue working towards this with the hope it will be ready in the near future.

All in all, thank you for sticking with us all this time! Whether you’ve been here since the crowdfund, or you’ve just gotten started with our virtual singers, thank you so, so much! Eclipsed Sounds will continue into the future, and continue developing vocals for our incredible community of users, hopefully for many more years to come!
